Breno Niero - Researcher & Founder
Welcome to Ocean Capital Data-Driven Research & Investments.
I founded Ocean Capital in 2016 with a commitment to building a solid investment portfolio by leveraging advanced data science and innovative approaches to investment decision-making. As the lead researcher and private investor, I focus on developing cutting-edge data prediction labs that transform raw data into actionable insights. These labs enable me to create smarter, more informed financial strategies, constantly pushing the boundaries of what's possible in data-driven investing.
Currently, my VelocitySignals Lab is fully operational, broadcasting Buy, Hold, or Sell signals based on technical indicators like RSI, MACD, and Volume. This lab forms the foundation for real-time trading decisions. See the Technical Notes.
In addition to this, I’m actively developing two key labs:
-EmotionEdge Lab: Designed to analyze market sentiment by extracting insights from news, social media, and investor behavior. This lab will help me make sentiment-driven investment decisions, offering a new dimension to my trading strategies.
-NeuroQuant Lab: This lab serves as the hub for Ocean Capital’s data prediction ecosystem, integrating signals from all other labs to generate more accurate market forecasts. It’s built to optimize trading models by aggregating and processing data from the VelocitySignals and EmotionEdge Labs.
With some data-driven insights, Ocean Capital private funds have a proven track record of success:
- The Crypto Fund, launched in March 2017, delivered an impressive +431.78% return within its first two years.
- The South Atlantic Equity Fund, initiated in August 2019, grew by +187.63% by June 2022.
Beyond financial success, I believe in making a positive impact. That’s why a percentage of the profits from my investment funds are directed to environmental initiatives like The Ocean Cleanup, Sea Shepherd Australia, The Great Barrier Reef Foundation, the Australian Marine Conservation Society, and Surfers for Climate. For me, driving the future of investments means contributing to a better planet.

Every year, millions of tons of plastic enter the oceans, of which the majority spills out from rivers. A portion of this plastic travels to ocean garbage patches, getting caught in a vortex of circulating currents. If no action is taken, the plastic will increasingly impact our ecosystems, health, and economies.
The Ocean Cleanup is a non-profit organization developing and scaling technologies to rid the oceans of plastic. To achieve this objective, we have to work on a combination of closing the source and cleaning up what has already accumulated in the ocean and doesn’t go away by itself. This goal means we plan to put ourselves out of business – once we have completed this project, our work is done.
OCEAN CAPITAL HAS BEEN SUPPORTING THE OCEAN CLEANUP FOUNDATION SINCE 2017. WOULD YOU LIKE TO HELP?
Captain Paul Watson - Sea Shepherd founder
From the gentle giants of the sea to its smallest creatures, Sea Shepherd’s mission is to protect all marine life species living in our oceans. Our campaigns have defended whales, dolphins, seals, sharks, penguins, turtles, fish, krill and aquatic birds from poaching, unsustainable fishing, habitat destruction, and exploitive captivity.
The ocean environment is an intricately-balanced ecosystem designed to support and sustain marine wildlife. To truly thrive, they need safe sanctuaries to feed, mate and raise their young without pollution, destructive fishing gear, plastics and other marine debris that choke marine wildlife and destroy their habitats. Sea Shepherd opposes the pollution of the fragile ecosystem through off-shore drilling and fisheries, as well as the destruction of coral reefs from trawling, and the loss of coastal nesting sites from commercial development.
From its earliest years, Sea Shepherd has embraced the mandate of the United Nations World Charter for Nature to uphold international conservation laws when nations can’t…or won’t. Today, Sea Shepherd works with law enforcement agencies such as INTERPOL to help bring poachers to justice, and partners with national governments around the world to stop illegal, unreported and unregulated fishing in their sovereign waters.
OCEAN CAPITAL HAS BEEN SUPPORTING SEA SHEPHERD CONSERVATION SOCIETY IN SEVERAL CAMPAIGNS ACROSS THE WORLD. WOULD YOU LIKE TO HELP?
Global warming, combined with the negative impacts of numerous other human activities, is devastating our ocean, with alarming declines in fish stocks, the death of our reefs, and sea level rise that could displace hundreds of millions of people.
WE MUST ACT AND PROTECT
"Coral reefs represent some of the world's most spectacular beauty spots, but they are also the foundation of marine life: without them many of the sea's most exquisite species will not survive"
Sheherazade Goldsmith
The ocean is a continuous body of salt water that covers more than 70 percent of the Earth's surface. Ocean currents govern the world's weather and churn a kaleidoscope of life. Humans depend on these teeming waters for comfort and survival, but global warming and overfishing threaten Earth's largest habitat.
Geographers divide the ocean into five major basins: the Pacific, Atlantic, Indian, Arctic, and Southern. Smaller ocean regions such as the Mediterranean Sea, Gulf of Mexico, and the Bay of Bengal are called seas, gulfs, and bays. Inland bodies of saltwater such as the Caspian Sea and the Great Salt Lake are distinct from the world's oceans.
The Oceans hold about 321 million cubic miles (1.34 billion cubic kilometers) of water, which is roughly 97 percent of Earth's water supply. Seawater's weight is about 3.5 percent dissolved salt; oceans are also rich in chlorine, magnesium and calcium. The oceans absorb the sun's heat, transferring it to the atmosphere and distributing it around the world. This conveyor belt of heat drives global weather patterns and helps regulate temperatures on land, acting as a heater in the winter and an air conditioner in the summer.
